Dan and Claire’s engagement session was a first for me—the first time I photographed an entire session exclusively on film. No digital backup, no checking the back of the camera, just a few rolls of film and early morning walk around the Capitol. There’s something about photographing this way that makes me slow down and pay closer attention, and I loved the way these images came together. Dan and Claire were the perfect people to trust me with it.
Annie and Jim | Patterson Park & Clipper Mill Engagement
I spent the evening wandering around Clipper Mill with Annie and Jim for their Baltimore engagement session. Between the old brick buildings, industrial textures, and pockets of greenery, there are so many good places to photograph here. We shot a mix of digital and film, walked around without much of a plan, and made some photographs that feel very much like Annie and Jim.

One of my favorite things about Washington, DC is that couples can marry themselves—no officiant required. As a photographer, there’s something incredibly special about being the only witness to a couple’s wedding day and getting to document it as it unfolds. Kephren and Chelsea’s elopement took us from the National Gallery of Art, to ice cream at Jeni’s on Capitol Hill, and finally to the Willard InterContinental for cake and a nightcap. A pretty perfect way to get married in DC.
